  • Vin-Yin YogaThis all levels 75-minute class combines the heat building style of Vinyasa Yoga and the cooling, meditative style of Yin Yoga. We’ll move through a series of poses that will invigorate and build power then shift into quiet, restorative shapes that will leave you feeling strong, supple and relaxed. with MariaMy personal Yoga practice began in the early 1990’s when I discovered it helped me greatly with an anxiety disorder I suffered with since I was a child. The benefits Yoga afforded me were so life altering that I continued to grow my practice and throughout the years gained stress relief, flexibility and strength. Over time, most of my conversations were about Yoga and I decided it was time to seek more understanding of this practice I loved so much. In Sanskrit there’s a word, Dharma, which can be translated into ‘following one’s path.’ For most of my life I felt my Dharma (path) was to teach but I didn’t have a notion of what I had to share or teach others until I completed my first Hatha Yoga teacher training in 2007. After leading my first class, I knew that teaching Yoga was my Dharma. I teach with an open heart, infused with a sense of humor, as I encourage my students to deepen their practice in a safe & creative environment. I’m a 200-hour Yoga Alliance Registered Teacher and certified ChildLight Yoga Instructor continuing my study and practice of Yoga through workshops and lectures. 7:15 pm to 8:30 pm

  • Qigong for HealthQigong (Chee Kung) is an ancient system of movement, breathing and meditation designed to promote flexibility, balance, and enhance health and spirituality. Practice will involve slow flowing movement, deep rhythmic breathing, static and moving meditation, and self massage techniques. Numerous recent studies have shown the benefits to Qigong especially for persons recovering from illness or injury and for seniors in general! with DanMy introduction to Yoga began in early 2007 when a Kinesiologist recommended a series of exercises to rehabilitate injuries I had sustained previously. These exercises worked so well on my back and shoulders, I investigated their origin and found that they were all considered Yoga poses which led me to a continued exploration into the physical practice of Yoga. I learned that the physical practice of Yoga was just the beginning and realized the emotional and spiritual aspect of Yoga as well. Through continued practice and encouragement of my teachers, the benefits of Yoga unfolded before me and I realized how much I wanted to share this practice with others. My professional background has given me advanced medical training and intimate knowledge in human anatomy and physiology. Combining this with over 35 years of Martial Arts training and teaching in my own studio, has given me the confidence to provide a safe and secure environment for my students in the Yoga studio. I am a Yoga Alliance 200-hour Certified Hatha Yoga Instructor and recently completed training in Yin Yoga.  I continue to explore advanced yoga practices through workshops and practical experience.  My classes are instilled with a balance of the physical, emotional and spiritual aspects of Yoga filled with humor and smiles.  My goal is to offer a class that allows the students to benefit from the relaxing and a stress-free atmosphere yet feel empowered by the Yoga practice. 7:30 pm to 8:30 pm
